Teaching title SEFC Module three, Unit1 Festival around the world, Reading Festivals and Celebration Teaching theory According to the theories of the new curriculum, the English teaching should focus on the students’ abilities to gather information, deal with information, solve problems and the abilities to think and express in English. Reading comprehension is one of the effective methods of acquiring and handling information. During the teaching process, the passage is dealt with according to the learning situation , which aims to help students to form some reading strategies. Analysis of The whole unit talks about festivals of many kinds around the world. The the teaching reading passage briefly describes four different kinds of modern festivals that material occur in most parts of the world and the reasons why festivals are held everywhere. By learning the text, the students will be able to know that festivals exist everywhere, and that many of them celebrate similar ideas and important cultural events. Analysis of The topic of this unit is close to the students’ life experience, so they are the learning interested in the reading passage. However, they have different English levels. situation During the teaching process, I will design reading activities of different levels to meet students’ demands and encourage them to participate in the class Teaching Aims actively. Knowledge aims: 1.Get students to master important words and phrases. 2.Enable students to learn about different kinds of festivals. 3.Enable students to learn how festivals begin and how festivals are celebrated. Ability aims 1.To develop the students’ reading skills: skimming, scanning and summarizing. 2.To train the students’ ability of using language and stimulate their creative thinking ability. Emotion aims 1. Try to create an active and harmonious class atmosphere and stimulate the students’ feeling experience . 2. Train the students to accumulate social and cultural background knowledge and promote their cross cultural awareness. 1
