Body movements in general way also indicate feelings, and interviewers pay particular attention to the way a candidate for a job walks into the room and sits down. 45 , it is not difficult to present the right kind of appearance, while what employers want to know relates to the candidate’s character traits(特性) and 46 stability. This raises the awkward question of whether job candidate’s should be asked to complete psychological tests, and the further problem of 47 such tests actually produce reliable results. For many people, being asked to take part in such a test would be an objectionable intrusion (闯入, 侵扰) into their private lives. 48 , a prospective employer would hardly ask a candidate to run a hundred meters, or expect his or her family doctor to provide confidential medical information. Quite apart from this problem, can such tests predict whether a person is likely to be a 49 employee or a valued colleague?

Part B Passages

Questions 11 through 13 are based on the following passage.

Directions: In Part B, you will hear two short passages, and you will be asked three questions on each of the passages. The passage will be read twice, but the questions will be spoken once. When you hear a question, read the four possible answers in your paper and decide which one would be the best answer to the question you have heard.

Golden Week(黄金周)

We have three Golden Weeks in a year: first the Chinese New Year, second May 1 (Labor Day), and third October 1 (National Day). In fact, there are only three days in a period as public holidays. However, a Golden Week (a weeklong holiday) is made by weekend-shifting. Additional days have to be compensated by working the weekend before or after the holiday. That means people have to keep working for a period longer than five days. As the upcoming Golden Week will run from May 1 to 7, most people will have to work on Saturday (April 30) and Sunday (May 8).

The government called this the long-vacation policy with which they intend to boost the so-called ―holiday economy‖ that benefits tourism, entertainment and service business in China. People are expected to go shopping, go out for dinner or go on vacation in a Golden Week.

A growing number of local residents plan to travel during the upcoming May Day holiday week, with overseas tours proving very popular. Local travel agencies even stopped receiving bookings now for most of their overseas tours for the May Day holiday week. But travelers will be unhappy to see the sharp price hikes for nearly all the routes, especially those lead to domestic destinations. In such a Golden Week, while some businesses turn Golden, consumers become the Weak to be ripped off!

11. How many Golden Weeks are there in a year in China according to the passage? 12. Why did the government make the long-vacation policy? 13. What does not happen to tourists during the Golden Weeks? 11-13 CAC

Questions 14 through 16 are based on the following passage.

Chinese economic growth “not a threat”

PHNOM PENH—Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Wednesday the Chinese economic growth is good for the region and the world, and it is not a threat to other countries.

Chinese economic growth has helped to push the economic growth for other countries like Cambodia, Hun Sen told Cambodia’s Investment, Trade, and Infrastructure 2007 Roundtable Forum attended by about 600 local and foreign business people.

―I disagreed with some people who said they are concerned about Chinese influences in the region and the world,‖ he said, adding that Cambodia needs more investors from China. Hun Sen said that if possible, Cambodia needs about one million Chinese tourists to come and visit the country, adding that about one million Chinese tourists visited Singapore last year.

Cambodia is likely to attract 2 million tourists this year, increasing 19 percent compared with last year, he said.

The Cambodian economic growth depends on garment, construction, tourism and agriculture sectors, Hun Sen said, adding that the service sector also plays a key role.

Then we were each separately sent on what was referred to as a sail in my father’s 18-foot sailing boat, with enough food for a week.
