In the recent two sessions held in Beijing, one of the most concerned problems by representatives and reporters is environm- ental pollution problem. The mass media and the general public are paying more and more attention to environmental problems.

Polluted water, air and soil greatly affect people's quality of life, and even harm people's health. Environmental experts point out that increasing pollution not only causes serious problems such as global warming but also could threaten to end human life on our planet.

In view of such a serious situation, all levels of governments and related department must take strong measures to deal with it, such as promoting environmental tools of transportation like bicycles, planting more trees, and shuting down some factories.

(With the development of our country,) the problem of environmental pollution has become more and more serious nowadays. For example, rubbish can easily be seen on the ground, rivers and even on the sea. It makes our city dirty. What’s worse, some sea animals even are killed by the rubbish. Besides, the air pollution becomes worse because there are so many cars in the city. They give out much harmful gases which do harm to our health.

As far as I am concerned, we students must pay attention to protecting our

environment. First, we can ride or walk to school instead of taking our parents’ cars. Second, we should turn off the light as soon as we leave the room. Third, we had better reduce the use of plastic-made things, such as plastic bags and lunchbox.

我们家乡原来有一条清澈见底的小河，河底有许多五彩的鹅卵石，美丽极了，小鱼小虾在河里自由自在地玩耍。夏天到了，活泼的孩子们都来这里游泳、打水仗。冬天来了,河面上结了冰,孩子们又会来这里滑冰。

可是有一天，这幸福、美好的生活被打破了：河边建起了许多工厂，成天向河中排放污水、有毒的化学物质。于是，鱼虾离开了小河的怀抱，河底的鹅卵石被弄的肮脏不堪，小孩子们也不来这儿玩耍了。每当人们从这里经过时，就皱起眉头、捂住鼻子。河里的水把村里的庄稼都害死了。小河现在变得臭气熏天，鱼虾都不见了。孩子们也不再来这里玩耍了。

我建议大家保护自然环境，保护小河，保护我们的家园。
