Chinese people gave a warm welcome to Stephen Hawking after he joined SinaWeibo.

Do you have a lucky number? What is it? Many people have a special number that they hope will bring them good luck.

In Chinese culture, some numbers are believed to be lucky or unlucky based on the Chinese word that the number sounds similar to.

For example, the word for the number 8 sounds similar to the word for “making a forture(财富)”. So, people think that it is a very lucky number. Some people will even spend a lot of money to have 8s in their phone numbers. The opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics began at 8:08 on August 8,2008.

My husband just bought the latest video game for our son,but our little prince wasn’t happy with that;he wanted more!So an argument broke out.

My husband said, “I do everything to make him happy and he never seems grateful（感恩）.” Well,that’s the problem; we shouldn’t try to make our kids happy all the time! By always trying to keep them smiling are we setting them up for a bad future?

Childhood is full of butterflies,rainbows（彩虹） and sunshine. Our children get used to everyone around them making them happy. As parents we are showering our children with gifts for all occasions（场合）. When they have a bad day at school we want to fix it. When they suffer their first heart break we do everything to heal it. We are failing to teach them how to become independent adults.

In the end we gave in（让步）and let our son keep the video game. We did make him wait a whole 24 hours before playing it though. My husband tried to explain to our son how he felt and why he was angry. I hope our son could understand our feelings.
