One day, after all the relatives left, the boy drank the water from his relatives' water bottles. Then he hung the bottles on a small tree and began to sing some ancient songs. At once, the tree began to grow very tall. When his relatives returned, they found the boy was on the tree with their bottles. However,as soon as the boy made his way down to the ground, his relatives set about beating him with

sticks and stones until his body was quite soft. Mad with anger, they continued to heat him until a strange thing happened at last. The boy began to change. He became a koala and climbed up the tree. Water has always been necessary for our health. Then what kind of water do you drink, tap water or bottled water? Do you get a healthier, safer and more refreshing(提神的)drink when you buy bottled water off the shelf? My answer is“no”,and doing so hurts the environment and your wallet.

First of all, there are no studies showing that bottled water is better for you,and in fact,it may be less safe than tap water. A study of over l,000 people in Belfast found that they couldn't tell the differences between tap water and bottled water when asked which was purer, more pleasant, natural and refreshing. Bottled water can come from springs(泉水)or from the mountains. It can also be treated, for example,to have iron(铁)removed. It is reported that there is around 82.8g of CO2 for a half-liter(半公升)bottle. This will be harmful to people's health when everyone's drinking it. How ever, bottled water is popular with many people. Its success is from excellent marketing and our laziness in filling reusable bottles with tap water.

Secondly, bottled water can cost between 500 to 1,000 times more than dap water. In 2015,the UK drank 2.4 billion liters o of bottled water, and by 2016 this had risen to 2.6 billion liters. Yet,you get this from the tap,for free.

Besides, recycling is improving, but in America, it is said that only a quarter of bottles can be used again. So is it really so much better that it is worth both paying for and harming the earth? Or should you stop buying it ?

As a general rude,I believe that most of us should enjoy more tap water, and stop using so many bottles. 31. Why do many people like bottled water? A. Because bottled water has iron remolded. B. Because bottled water has cheaper than tap water. C. Because there's around 82.8g of CO2 for a bottle.

D. Because people are Iazy to fill reusable bottles with tap water. 32. What can we learn from the numbers in the third paragraph? A. People spend more and more money on bottled wader every year. B. Bottled water sells well because of its excellent marketing. C. More people begin to drink tap water to save money. D. The British drink the most battled water in the world. 33. What does the writer mainly talk about in the passage? A. Haw tap water should be drunk. B. The advantages of drinking tap wader. C. Why people like drinking bottled water.

D. The disadvantages of drinking bottled water.

For too many, the damage begins early in life. Four out of 10 babies born in the United States do not form a strong relationship with either parent, and they will pay for that the rest of their lives.

New research from Princeton University confirms what other researchers have already found: The number of babies born into families that are too poorly equipped(装备、配备)to give them a fair chance of having a successful life is very big.

That finding is supported by many other research Projects, including a study from the University of Rochester showing that nearly one-third of U.S. parents don't know what to expect from their newhorns,or how to help them grow and learn and get along with others. Babies,as others have pointed out, don't come with an owner's manual. The basic problem, according to the Princeton study, is 40 percent of infants in the U.S. live in fear or distrust of their parents, and that will turn into aggressiveness(侵犯), defiance(挑衅)and hyperactivity(多动) as they grow into adults.

Of that number, 25 percent don't have a close relationship with their parents because the parents don't satisfy their needs. And 15 percent find their parents so troubling that they will avoid them whenever possible.

That will not necessarily result in a lifetime of violence(暴力), but it will make living a successful life much more difficult.

“They can overcome(克服) it,”sociologist (社会科学家)Sophie Moullin of Princeton, lead author

(作者) of that study, said in a telephone interview. “It's not a make or break situation, but they might find it harder to control their behavior.”

Moullin, along with coauthors from Columbia University and the University of Bristol in England, analyzed(分析) more than 100 research projects, to reach their conclusions.

There are many factors, including poverty(贫穷), ignorance(无知), and stress among parents who are so busy with their own problems that a new child is sometimes more than they can deal with.

Yet strong relationships, the researchers say, are amazingly simple to achieve. 34. According to the writing style of the passage, it may be a(n) _________. A. news report B. book report C. novel D. review 35. What is the meaning of the underlined word “manual” in Paragraph 3? A. An actor who tells you how to take care of a baby. B. A book that tells you how to do or operate something.

C. A TV show that tells you how to make a relationship with your baby. D. A radio program explaining how to look after your baby. 36. What do you think is the best title of this passage? A. It's harder to control children's behavior. B. What a little love means to a little one.
