On March 11, 2011, a big earthquake struck Japan, and later the tsunami occurred. None of the Japanese has experienced such a terrible earthquake as that before. The earthquake and the following tsunami caused the death of more than 28000 natives in all. Many of the victims had no time to escape and were buried under the collapsed buildings. I think human beings are sure to overcome the natural disaster and the situation will pick up.

现如今，学生们都在忙着复习功课为了考入理想的大学。老师每天分发大量的试卷以至于他们没有时间锻炼来增强体力（用so...that引导的结果状语从句）。因此他们的家长担心他们的健康。一方面，他们抱怨孩子们的作业太多；另一方面，他们也希望孩子们能够考上大学。他们知道我们国家急需有知识的人。因为他们向政府呼吁减少作业量以便留出时间给孩子们锻炼。只有这样他们的子女才能精力旺盛，更好地吸收领会所学的知识（倒装结构）。

Nowadays students are busy reviewing their lessons in order to be admitted into an ideal university. Teachers give out so many papers every day that they have no time to exercise to build up their strength. Therefore, their parents are concerned about their health. On the one hand, they complain that their children have so much work to do; on the other hand, they hope their children can be admitted into the college. They know that our country is in urgent need of those who have much knowledge. So they appeal to the government to cut down the amount of homework so that time can be set aside for their children to exercise. Only in this way can their children be full of energy and take in what they learned much better.

约翰在一家大公司位居高位。他才干卓越，能够应对各种挑战。约翰总是强调良好的团体协作的重要性，他对自己要求很严，从不做违背自己原则的事。他的行为对其他同事产生了很大影响。约翰对公司的发展做出了很大的贡献。但是几天前，我们听说他因身体不好辞职离开了公司。这件事太让人遗憾了！

John holds a senior position in a large company. He is a man of extraordinary abilities and is equal to every challenge. John always stresses the importance of good teamwork. He is strict with himself and doesn’t do anything against his principles. His behavior has a great influence on his workmates. John makes great contributions to the development of the company. But we are shocked to hear that he resigned several days ago and left the company because he was out of condition. What a pity it is!

一个寒冷的冬天，市政府正在就石头把有1000年历史的古庙一走以便在那儿建个公园展开讨论（用不定式作介词宾语）。一些人认为这样做很有道理因为他们认为只有这样我们才能与社会发展同步（用原因状语从句），而另外一些人试图阻止，因为他们认为这座古庙值得保护。最后他们一致同意向公众征求建议。

On a freezing cold day, the city government is holding a discussion on whether to remove the old temple dating back to 1000 years ago and build a park there. Some people think it makes sense to do so because they think only in this way can we keep pace with the development of society, while others try to hold it back because they think the old temple is worth protecting. At last they all agree to seek advice from the public.
