1. Your view on Technology today. (Unit 2)

Tips: What kinds of technology do you often use in your daily life? Please say something about their advantages and disadvantages. What kinds of technology do you think will be available in the future? How would they make a difference in our life?

The use of technology is increasing day by day, we all depend on technology and we use various technology to accomplish specific tasks in our daily life. I usually use smartphone and internet in my daily life. I can do a lot with my smartphone. For example, I can use Wechat to talk to my parents and friends whenever and wherever I am free. I can send them some pictures that I just took. I can send them a record or a video tape to them. And the internet allows me to catch the latest news all around the world. It can help me with my study, too. I can search the whole internet to find something or some information that I want to know about. And with the continuous development of the new technology, not only the computer but also our life will be much more different in the future. For example, the revolution of the computer brings us the quantum computer, which could factor a large digit number in minutes to hours. Which means we can deal with much more information than before. And perhaps we can store all memories and knowledge in your hard drive one day. Memories last a lifetime, but with devices like Google Glass, pictures are no longer the only things can immortalize us. Storage drives will accompany us for the rest of our life.

2. Your view on mass media and the news. (Unit 3)

Tips: Which media (TV, Internet, radio, newspaper etc.) do you often use to get news? Why? What kind of news (national, international, sports, entertainment, etc.) is the most interesting to you? What kind is the least interesting? Do you think working in the media is a glamorous job? Why or why not?

I use the internet to get the latest news most frequently. Because I can get some important information or breaking news through my smartphone and the news always comes in time. I like technology about cellphone and computer and some worldwide breaking news. Sometime the entertainment will do but I only care about some celebrities I like such as Lady Gaga, Taylor swift, allen su etc. I have some friends working as an assistant in the media and they are like, always very busy. Sometimes they just ran around for one good clear shot for a whole day and they have to work on the plan for tomorrow at night. I don’t think they have enough time for rest and they do complain about their job. But sometimes they seem to really enjoy this job because it does give them a great opportunity to exercise. In my opinion, working in media is a very challenging job. Someone works in media must be very creative and must could resist compression during the work. It’s a kind of job for somebody who likes to push their limits. It is a glamorous job. But not for me.

3. Your view on the world of work.(Unit 4)

Tips: Describe your dream job. Which job would you like to have? Why would you like to have it? What skills would you need for it? Have

you got any related experience? What kind of education or training would you need for your dream job?

I would love to work in some place nice, like somewhere with air conditioner. And the job only has to work 8 hours a day and I can get some rests in the weekend. So I guess I would like to have a job in a bank. I think the most suitable major to apply a job of bank is finance. My major is international economics and trade which is unlikely very suitable for applying a job of bank in my opinion. But sometimes my teacher told me we were needed by bank because we had learned something, like how to deal with the customs kind of thing, that was what they needed when it comes to international money transfer. And I am glad that I am going to be an intern in a bank this summer vacation. And before that, I have to equip myself with some basic finance knowledge. I have to talk to people all the time during my work as well. So I have to be very patient with every client. I don’t know what position I will be assigned to but I am really looking forward to it.

4. Your view on the business.(Unit 5)

Tips: Which company do you think is a successful company? What does the company do and why do you think it’s been famous? Which famous businessman or businesswoman do you know? What is he or she known for? Introduce him or her briefly. What can you learn from him or her?

I think the Alibaba Company is a very successful company. Jack Ma established Alibaba in 1999 in Hangzhou and the company went on the market in 2014. It was one of the largest IPO ever in New York Stock Exchange and even worldwide. Jack Ma was graduated from Hangzhou Normal University and his major was English. After graduation, he worked at a college as an

English teacher for 7 years and then he started his own small business called Alibaba in 1999. Taobao was founded in 2003 and that is the very website I first knew Jack Ma. Now days, Jack Ma is famous for Taobao because more and more people are shopping online now. We usually could get a great discount online and that is why the e-business is so full of life in China or worldwide now. Jack Ma is not an overnight success person. He had failed many times as well. He failed 2 times in Gaokao because his math marks was too low. But he was unwilling to give up and he got in the university when he took the third round. One thing that I learn from Jack Ma is that we should never give up easily. Birds don’t just fly, they fall down and they get up. Nobody learns without getting any hurt.
