When soruething goes wrong, it can be very easy to say, "I know I'm late, but it' s not my

fault; the car broke down" and so on. It is probably not your fault, but once you develop the habit of blaming somebody or something else for a bad situation, you are a loser. You have no power and could not change the situation. However, you can have great power over what happens to you if you stop focusing on whom to blame. And start focusing on how to y the situation. This is the winner's key to success.

Winners are great at overcoming problems. For example, if you were late because your car broke down, maybe you need to have your car examined more regularly. For another example, if your colleague (罔事) causes you problems on the job for lack of responsibility, find ways of dealing with his irresponsibility rather than simply blame the person. You should find creative ways to work successfully instead of blaming your colleague.

This is what being a winner is all about---creatively using your skills and talents (才华) s0

that you are successful no matter what happens. Winners don't have fewer problems in their lives; they have just as many difficult situations to face as anybody else. They are just better at

seeing those problems as challenges(扫已战) and opportunities to develop their talents.

So, stop focusing on "Whose fault it is". Once you are confident about your power over bad situations, problems are just something on the road to vour success.

We all talk about good and bad habits, but do we really know which is which? Taking brushing your teeth for example. Everyone believes it is a good habit, but there are times when it is not. Carl's dentist told hiru he was changing his teeth by overbrushing theru. Wanting to keep theru healthy until old age, he brushed his teeth fifteen minutes after every meal; he was also brushing too hard.

Most habits have both advantages and disadvantages. In this book, The Habit Change Workbook, I'll help you decide which habits you need to change. First let's meet two people with "bad habits " .

Betty liked shopping best. It took her mind off her problems, and helped her forget her worries. She also shopped when she was bored or had something to celebrate. Betty showed her love by buying and then giving gifts to friends. She especially enjoyed a big sale. When she found a bargain, she'd often buy two, three or more of the same thing. Betty used credit cards to pay, making it difficult for her to pay the credit card bills each month.

Busy and single, Jeff felt that he didn't have time to prepare healthy meals. He often had fast

food on the way to and from work. He kept snacks in his desk drawer. His kitchen was filled with sodas, cookies, and chips. Jeff was overweight. His doctor told him to eat less fat and gave him a

diet plan, but Jeff hadn't been successful in following it. Jeff also had trouble sleeping. He would

lie awake in bed for hours before falling asleep.
