Municipality of Chongqing

1 Introduction

Chongqing (Chinese: 重庆; Chinese Postal Map Romanization: Chungking) is a major city in Southwest of China and one of five national central cities of China. Administratively, it is one of the PRC's four direct-controlled municipalities (the other are Beijing, Shanghai and Tianjin), and the only municipality in inland of China. The official abbreviation, 渝 (Yú), was approved by the State Council on 18 April 1997. Chongqing was also a municipality of the Republic of China administration, serving as its wartime capital during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945). Its abbreviated name is derived from the old name of a part of the Jialing River which runs through Chongqing and feeds the Yangtze River. Chongqing is one of the most notable cities for history and culture in China (历史文化名城), and serves as the economic centre of the upstream Yangtze area. It is the major manufacturing centre and a transportation hub for Southwest of China.

2 Tourist attractions(旅游景点)

Fairy Mountain(仙女山)

Fairy Mountain National Forest Park is the top ten tourist attractions in Chongqing, the state AAAAA level scenic areas. It is in the north Shore of Wujiang in Wulong Country and belongs to Wuling ridge. Its total area is 8910 hectares, average altitude is 1900 meters and highest peak is 2033 meters.

仙女山国家森林公园是重庆十佳旅游景点，特色旅游胜地，地属武陵山脉，位于重庆市武隆县境乌江北岸。仙女山总面积8910公顷，平均海拔1900米，最高峰2033米。

Tea mountain and Bamboo sea(茶山竹海)

Tea mountain and bamboo sea is located in Yongchuan, with 20000 acres’ tea garden and 50000 acres’ bamboo sea which is the large bamboo sea in ba-yu area. Main attractions include three big tea gardens and six large bamboo seas, such as guishan tea plantations, tsing lung tea garden, JinPen bamboo sea, Bamboo sea labyrinth and so on. What’s more, there are also ZhuDe building, tian bazi tomb, one house, thin knife ridge and other attractions.

位于永川区城北2公里处，拥有2万亩大型连片茶园和5万亩巴渝第一大竹海。茶山竹海主要景点有桂山茶园、青龙茶园等三大片茶园和金盆竹海、竹海迷宫等六大片竹海，另外还有朱德楼、田坝子古墓、天子殿、薄刀岭等景点。

North spring park(北温泉公园)

It is located in chongqing beibei, which north closing to jialing river and south reliancing jinyun mountain. Its predecessor were hot spring temple which built in the early LiuSong JingPing first year (423). The park was built according to natural terrain, its towers and pavilions are well-arranged, and there are bamboo forest, green trees. The scenery is picturesque.

位于北碚区，北濒嘉陵江，南倚缙云山。其前身为温泉寺，初建于南朝刘宋景平元年(423年)。公园依自然地形而建，楼台亭阁错落有致，翠竹森森，林木葱茏，风景如画。

the Yangtse Gorges(长江三峡)

The Three Gorges region is located along the Yangtze River between the cities of Fengjie in Chongqing municipality and Yichang in Hubei province.

The Yangtze river three gorges is one of top 10 scenic spots and one of top 40 traveling landscape of China.

The most valuable natural scenery parts of The Yangtze river three gorges are just in the territory of chongqing, which are qutang gorge, twelve peaks of wu gorge, small three gorges, the red leaves of three gorges.

长江三峡是中国10大风景名胜之一，中国40佳旅游景观之首。

长江三峡自然风光中最有价值的一段：瞿塘峡、巫峡十二峰、小三峡、三峡红叶，就在重庆境内。
