英语辩论或讨论是提高英语口语、培养用英语快速思维的方法之一，也是全国及各省市高考英语书面表达的题型之一。我们在进行辩论或讨论时，要仔细考虑所提供的话题，确立合乎逻辑的论点，以自己平时学习、经历或观察到的事情作为论据来支持论点；反驳对方的观点时，要先指出对方的错误论点，然后确立自己的论点，清楚、有层次地表述自己的立场和观点，做到以理服人，坚决反对出现人身攻击、夸夸其谈、抵赖事实等行为。

Linda: Good morning, boys and girls. Nowadays, star-worshiping (追星), as you know, is popular among teenagers, especially many middle school students. And it is a fact that there is a widespread concern over this issue. Now, let's have a discussion about it. My name is Linda. I'm here with our guests Michael and Helen. Now let's come to the topic. What is your point of view, Michael?

Michael: Good morning, everyone. From the point of my view, star-worshipping is just like playing games. We can make many friends and learn a lot from it so long as we don't indulge(沉迷) ourselves in it. My viewpoint is: students can learn many good qualities in the course of star-worshipping. I think it's good for students to worship stars on condition that what they worship is not the beauty, fame and gain, luxurious residences(豪宅) or famous cars of the stars but their qualities.

Helen: I agree with you up to a certain point, Michael, I'm afraid I see it slightly differently, though.

Linda: What is that then?

Helen: Just as an old saying goes, “every coin has two sides”. Star-worshipping is no exception. There is no doubt that star-worshipping has advantages just as Michael said, but it still has its negative (消极) aspects as follows. Star-worshipping may lead to students' falling behind in their studies. As most of their time has been devoted to worshipping famous stars, the students don't have enough time to prepare for or review their lessons. It's hard for them to get good marks in their lessons. So, in my opinion, it's really hard to judge whether it's good or bad for students to worship stars. That's all.

Linda: Boys and girls, no doubt that the differences in the opinions still exist, however, we should try to bring the advantages of star-worshipping into full play and reduce the disadvantages to the minimum at the same time. In that case, we will definitely make a better use of the star-worshipping. Thank both of you for coming to this debate, Michael and Helen. 3. How to disagree politely with an opinion I am not sure really. Do you think so? Well, it depends. I'm not so certain.

4. How to disagree strongly with an opinion I disagree.
