As time goes by, more and more Chinese students start to go abroad for studies, motivated by the good humanistic environment and the thick study atmosphere, although the charges may be expensive sometimes.

To study abroad is of some advantages indeed. It widens students’ knowledge and horizons, cultivates their independence and personalities, and also benefits for their foreign language.

Firstly, the education system in foreign countries is far more advanced, reflecting in the teaching methods. It provides opportunities for students studying abroad to learn advanced knowledge and management experience, then come back to enhance the scientific level of their own country.

Secondly, studying abroad can cultivate students’ abilities to live independently and form their own characters. These students have to deal with many problems when they study abroad, for example, learn how to be accustomed to a new environment and how to get along well with the teachers and classmates. During their studies, they can acquire some interpersonal skills.

Thirdly, studying abroad can provide a good environment for students to pick up a language. Foreign language is a tool employed to communicate with each other. It can remove language barrier and make international cooperation much easier.

Of course, studying abroad also has some disadvantages, mainly the high cost, which may cause lots of pressures on the families without good financial support. What's more, students will be confronted with so many psychological problems that they often feel lonely and helpless in a new environment.

In my opinion, the advantages of studying abroad outweigh the disadvantages. Studying abroad provides us a chance to look at our own country from the outside, and therefore widen our vision and broaden our minds. Besides, while studying in a foreign country, we can travel widely, visiting famous scenic spots and making friends with local people. So it is really worthwhile to go abroad for further studies. As for the high cost of studying abroad, we can seek for help for some special institutes, such as China Scholarship Council, which can provide tuition and part of living spends for those excellent students.
