We Must Protect Our Ecological System

We live in the world relying on the unique ecological system which is the most important for us. In nature, we call the environment except for objects, but including the social environment. Human beings are the product of the environment because we constantly transform the human environment to seek our own survival and development. Certainly, the ecological system is the basic condition for human survival, which is depended on the balance of available ecological system.

With the development of people’s living standards, the ecological protection problem is more and more attended by the human being. As to the circulation of ecological system, we exist in the social environment. Every new technology promotes the great development of the economy, which we break the normal principles to seek for the momentary interests in the advancement. But people also feel the economic development and the supply of natural sources being difficult to meet the community’s demand. In the situation, the ecological confluence will be significant for men and men, human and environment. When all the people don’t care about the bad result, they will encounter the dilemma and lead to the

vicious circle.

Once the ecological system is damaged in the environment, it will require several times even the efforts of several generations to recover even never recover.

However, because of previous “stupid” behavior, factually, human being has made an enormous effect on the environment and causes the disasters, such as storm, black storm, avalanche, earth rock flow, debris flow, flooding, earthquake, volcano, tsunami, plague, and so on.

In 1987, the U．S．Air Protection Research Center survey showed that endangered the United Stated directly and affected by acid rain for more than 30 million residents. As a result, the annual direct cost for U．S．＄15 billion dollars. European acid rain damaged to forests by more than 50%. The forests were destroyed, the remnants of the world in 2000 will drop to the existing species, the total number of 1/5~1/4, which is a non-recoverable ecocide. In this century, the acid rain pollution is really involved the many areas, including China, acid rain has become increasingly serious.

It was reported worldwide each year about 420 billion cubic meters of sewage discharged into rivers and lakes, polluting the 5.5 trillion cubic meters of fresh water, which is equivalent to the world

for more than 14% of the total runoff.

As to serious air pollution, it is directly threatening the health of the people. Domestic and international research shows that cancer has a certain relationship with environmental factors, especially air pollution. Urban residents are death for the city cancer that morality rate was 129.9/10 million, which is the terrible number increasingly in recent years.

Estimates, accounting for 80% of the world’s current energy consumption, fossil fuels (coal, oil, natural gas ) is equivalent to a final volume of 3.373 trillion tons of recoverable coal, and the world energy consumption is an annual 5% growth is expected only enough to use a human two hundred years.

Because of severe ecological destruction, such as deforestation and burning of grasslands, it results in a sharp decline in natural green area. When the flood struck, the land can not conserve water, leading to flash floods, often accompanied by debris flows, causing great loss of life and property. After the bare rocks, nature can not be normal ecological cycle. When it is hot, there will be severe drought, and lack of forest and grassland protection, and then water supply shortage. Finally, a large number of insects will be in order to survive, bringing about disaster going against humanity farmland. Therefore, mankind could come across the incalculable the loss on

production and life. Then mankind will take extreme measures, such as spraying pesticides, chemical fertilizers, etc．. However, to “improve” production, they just caused the death of ecological animals and plants, and even the extinction of a species, and the broken circulation of the natural law of development. As we all know, the ecological system can not benefit for humans property. Eventually, humans will stick back and forth in a vicious cycle at the end of resources.

Now, urban life causes massive population expansion, so the environment problems are caused by a lot of pressure, unreasonable development and utilization of natural resources, such as uncontrolled mining, a large number of drilling for oil , land reclamation from the sea, etc．. In fact, it also leads to a lot of geological disasters, such as earthquakes, frequent volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, tsunamis, storms, avalanches and so on. This in turn makes a lot of plants and animals lose their homes, in addition that the human spirit will never be able to erase the scars. As the industrial revolution advances, we are reaping the fruits of development, at the same time we may have thought that caused many disasters of burning of fossil fuels and emitting large quantities of harmful gases and greenhouse gases such as sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides. Then air quality is getting worse, dust can

be seen outside in time, but the formation of acid rain and methane cause worse serious harm. In particular, the acid rain can corrode nature things and cause people to travel inconvenience. The carbon dioxide will combine with ozone in the atmosphere so that the ultraviolet radiation spotlights the earth from the formation of the ozone layer hole in space frequently, burning human skin on withstanding of lack of humans. In addition, excessively using of human Freon refrigerants and air conditioners which are the reasons for the formation of the ozone hole.

In contrast, some countries and regions of departments have stressed on the importance of environmental issues and ecosystem protection, which they would benefit much from. Singapore is famous as the “Garden City” in the world. In this country, citizens and foreigners would be punished severely, if they damage the environment. They are popular with the slogan “ Every household plants the trees in front of their houses, if someone destroyed a tree, they would be fined a year salary”. The citizens should become a good example of working for social welfare and be encouraged to community service each week. This is because the people of Singapore for their limitless efforts, they win a nice reputation in the world. Therefore, an endless stream of tourists to Singapore every year, they always protect the ecologic and care for the environment

as an important highlight of the Singapore revenue.

All in all, due to the uneven development between regions and conflicts of interests between nations, people’s minds are always limited by some other reasons. In order to strengthening of environmental protection and ecological balance, there are some serious flaws which must be solved. It not only requires every citizens to contribute to a better living environment but also need coordination between regions; even a certain countries should develop laws and regulations and legislation improvement from the social environment problems that someone had had broken behaviors. International organizations should be signed documents between the countries or help non-developing countries giving technical support to protect the environment. Most important of all, it is our common goal to protect ecological system that we must put into execution and perform our duty.
