1. Sth you saved money for

范文1

Well I don’t think that I am a very material person at all, but having a Porsche(保时捷) would be very neat, don’t you think? Chic(时尚的), elegant(优雅的), prestigious(久负盛名的), and luxurious(奢华的). And they drive oh-so well. They’re the best! Simple as that!

Porsche has powerful engines which ensure superb performance(卓越的性能), and smooth, sleek lines, which makes it the slickest car on the road. If I had enough money, I would like to buy a Porsche 911 GT2 which is a sports car with twin-turbocharged engine(双涡轮增压引擎), Ok, I guess I have to admit that maybe I want the car as a trophy to show off (炫耀)a little bit and satisfy my vanity(满足我的虚荣心)

范文2

Something I saved money to buy was my Iphone. Iphone is the most popular phone worldwide made by apple. It is not just a phone but it is also a trend. Personally I am a huge apple fan so I like to keep up with the latest products. I remember seeing an ad about the new I phone 5s and I decided I am going to save up to buy it because of all it is new functions and upgrades. You know it has a better camera and a better processor. It is quite expensive, like around 5500 RMB. For me, it is a really big deal and I had to cut down on unnecessary luxuries to save up for this. I think the main reason I bought it was simply because I’m an apple freak I want to keep up with the latest trends and the advertisement was just so appealing to me that I could not resist.

2. A gift you received/sent

On my 21st birthday, I received a Apple laptop computer from my father. It is one of the best gifts that I’ve ever received. When i first saw it, i was taken by its streamed lined and trendy design. I love it enormously that i always take it wherever i go. Though the computer is designed various tasks including graphic design, word processing and even gaming, I use it primarily for my studies, such as doing my homework, searching for materials on the Internet and sending my assignments by e-mail. I also find it much faster to take down class notes by typing than writing on a notebook. But, as a matter of fact, it isn't really that special from any other birthday gifts. Yet I still have to say that it's brought me a lot of convenience in life. I want to thank my father for all the things he has given me. They all remind me of his love and that I must work hard to live up to his expectations.

3. A prize you won

I have attended many competitions in different phases of my life and have won some prizes from those competitions as well. One such contest that I would like to talk about was the Cycling competition that I participated in my college.

I was then a student of college and around 15 years old. One day I noticed an advertisement in our local newspaper that an inter-college cycling competition would held on next week. The entry fee would be $20 and the prizes would be given to the first three cyclers. I had a passion on cycling and I that’s why I thought to participate it.

On the day of the contest I went to the starting point and registered my name in the competition. I took my bicycle and wore my cycling dresses. I noticed there were around 30 competitors and I was asked to stand at my start point. With the sound of the whistle I start cycling. I had very less intension of winning prized but I simply did concentrate on cycling. The total distance was around 5 miles and that required some energy and time. After I finished the racing, I was really surprised to hear that I won the third prize. I found that some of my classmates were shouting because I was one of the three prize winners.

I felt really happy and proud that I did well in this competition. Actually I never took my cycling habit seriously and after I did well in that competition, I started participating in other cycling competitions as well.

4 .Sth. you bought but didn’t often use

Something that I bought, but rarely used, it would be the tamagotchi(电子鸡) I bought quite a while back. I remember I bought that around a year ago; when everyone was getting it, like how everyone shops at American Eagle and you have to do the same, but as soon as I bought it, I knew I would not use it for a really long time, because it was one of those things, where you buy it because everyone else was doing the same. Then a while later, the next popular thing was the I- touch, and then that was what everyone was getting. But I bet people would use the I-touch more frequently then the tomagotchi, I mean just look at the price, it only costs about 10$ to get a tomagotchi, but the cheapest I-Touch costs about 175$ and that price is already an online discount price.

5. Your first cellphone (*same function with tablet)

My first cellphone was Nokia. It has an extremely pretty face, with rounded corners,key-board slides out from underneath. It slides open and shut with a satisfying click.I.was.enticed by this model at first sight not only because it is such an eye candy, but also because it has all the advanced features,I,would expect – Bluetooth capabilities, text-messaging, a still and video camera, a Web browser, polyphonic ringtone capabilities. Yes, the ringtone is something worth mentioning. It?s one of the clearest-sounding phones I?ve ever heard. Like most young people nowadays, I am fascinated by the mobile phone. It brightens up my life. With a mobile phone, I don?t need an alarm clock, an MP3

player or a camera. Its web browsing function makes the Internet accessible at the finger point.

If there was ever the greatest invention in the modern age, I think it is mobile phone. It turns the vast world into a tiny village and even changes people?s lifestyle. Although it?s said that the long-term use of mobile phone raises the brain tumor risk, I still hang on my mobile phone. Anyway, it?s the best and most useful gad get black side buttons and a single navigation wheel. It is a slide phone, which means the

6. A product from your country

I believe the most common products made in my.country are various consumer goods, such as towel. It enjoys a great popularity in world market because of its low price and high quality. Each year millions of tons of towel was shipped from China's coast cities to North America, Europe , and Australia etc. In China there is a huge output of cotton, which is the main material of this product. The vendors in this field can get a large volume of raw material to run their machines. Also, in comparison to developed countries, China's labor price is very low. It's usual to employ a worker with a salary of 200 US dollars per month. Finally China enjoy great convenience in terms of traffic on oceans due to its long coast line. It allows the products flow smoothly from China to other areas. I believe these are the major reasons for the large export of this product from my country.

7. A piece of electronic equipment

Well, I would love to talk about my little “girlfriend”---my Samsung mobile phone which I always take along with me wherever I go. I bought it in my first year in my university when I had to part from my parents and live independently on campus. To keep in close contact with my dad and mum. I bought the amazing tool. Each day I would use it to call my parents telling them I am Ok in school, sharing them the interesting news about their son.My Samsung is not only a tool for me to chat with my loved ones far away, it also a means of relaxation and learning, for whenever I feel tired I will use it to listen to music and when I need some information, I will use it to surf online and access to what I need.

Besides, each morning I would turn on the radio on me cellphone for many different programs, about culture, news, politics and even language learning. In short, my Samsung mobile phone is useful to me not only because it can accompany me wherever I go, just like my girlfriend, but also because it is a new form of technology that I have greatly benefited in language learning.

8. A useful app

Thank you for this question, with the widespread of mobile phones, our life is getting more convenient than ever before.

The software that I would like to describe now is called \is an awesome intelligent reminder, and I have been using it for 4 years since I got my first iPhone.

Regarding what it is used for, there are two main helpful functions. The first one is the countdown service. Undeniably, there are many important days in our life, such as our family and friends' birthdays, many different kinds of anniversaries, and numerous festivals. It is really difficult to remember all these dates, and if I send a message to my friend or relative on that special occasion, they would often be surprised and it definitely helps to strengthen our relationship.

In addition, I am a big fan of history, and I can read loads of interesting historical stories everyday with this app. This is because one feature of the app is that it tells its users many stories about what happened on that day in the past history. For example, it explains the origin and background of many international festivals such as labors’ day, teachers’ day, and Aids day and so on. These stories can greatly broaden my horizon and enable to understand more about history.

Above all, this app is one of my favorites and it indeed makes my life easier and more fulfilled.

9. A time you helped others

I shared my personal summary of lecture notes and my answer of problem questions revised by the lecturer.

The direct reason was that they asked me whether I could help, another reason was that I reckoned that I should help others if that was within my ability.

explain how this person benefited from your help : first of all, it saved their time of summa rising by themselves。because the lecture has said that this would be an open book exam and dropped a broad hint that the scope of the final exam would be within the problem question in textbook behind each chapter,so I took that hint and fortunately was the first one who came to his office and asked him to pass some comments on my work, the lecturer appeared to be sufficiently satisfied with my answers despite of some slight deficiencies,he prefer to mix facts with the law, rather than some bullet points or bold headings(所以相对于自己总结,可以省去很多的时间去复习别的科目)so compared to the situation where they need ED to go through the whole process by themselves ,which would probably took up nearly a week, I reckon that referring to my answer DID can save a considerable amount of time under intense pressure before the exam。而且又是电子版的,方便编辑。Apart from this, those were word version, which is easily to edit.2另一个,也许是最直接的好处是probably the most direct one was that,至少看了我的总结之后能拿到P they could achieve a decent mark or at least a pass in their finals。因为这是一个开

卷考试because as I said this was an open book exam,所以理论上可以直接把总结的答案paraphrase一下直接抄上去so theoretically they could just paraphrase my answer and copy it onto the final paper,我就是这么做的actually I did exactly the same and scored a credit,拿了C,所以我觉得看了我总结的答案的人至少也是个P。

10. A family celebration

I want to talk about the wedding ceremony of my colleague. She got married about one year ago. The wedding ceremony was held in a restaurant which is called QianBai Wei .The food there was really special and mouth-watering. My colleague is a teacher working in Nanchang university. And her husband works as a civil servant for our government. They had a blind date not a long time ago and immediately fell in love with each other. I guess it’s love at the first sight.

The bride was in a red dress called Qipao which looked extremely gorgeous and elegant. She toasted with each of us and every guest wished the new couple good luck and happiness and hoped their love could last forever.

This kind of wedding is very common in China. Marriage is a kind of strong tie between two people. The bride and bridegroom will dress up and red decorations can be seen everywhere because it means luck in China. Sometimes we play tricks on the newly-weds to make the atmosphere better.

11. A positive change

I used to sleep late at night and get up late in the morning. But my parents kept telling me it was not a healthy daily life routine and I felt uncomfortable too.

Moreover, there were some friends telling me that girls could get older easily in bad daily life routine like this. So I didn’t think it was a bright idea to keep sleeping late and getting up late. I had to make a positive change.

I used to get up at 9 and sleep at 2 and here’s the scenario: I get up like a zombie with a big hang over. I used to feel dizzy and I kept bumping into walls but still felt light headache. My eyes were blurry and it felt like I was 500 pounds.

However, when I get up at 7 and sleep at 11, those negative effects are all gone. I am energetic all day long and have a very scientific schedule for working, eating and entertainment. So I am in a very positive mood and manage to do all things without making mistakes. Moreover, my skin is getting better too.

12. A group activity

Ok right then, well the group activity I’d like to talk about was actually an

English speaking competition I took part in during my first year at university,

which everyone on my course had to be in, so it was basically compulsory for us, otherwise I can safely say there’s no way I would have taken part in it, because at that time, my English really wasn’t that great!

But anyway, as for what we had to do, well, to begin with, we were all put into small groups of about four or five, and in our groups, we had to write a small play in English lasting about seven or eight minutes, and then act it out in front of all the students and lecturers on our course.

So regarding how difficult it was, well if truth be told, we all found it incredibly tough, at least in my group anyway, because none of us had ever written a play in English before, so it was a big challenge for us. But I suppose it was reassuring to know that everyone on our course was in the same boat, and thankfully we were helped by the fact that a couple of guys in our group spoke really good English, so if it wasn’t for them, I honestly don’t know how we would have done it!

Anyway, in the end, we managed to put something quite good together and actually ended up coming second out of about 10 groups, which we were really happy about, because we never expected to do that well!

And finally, with regard to how I felt about being part of this team, well I basically just felt super lucky, because firstly we had some really smart guys in our group, and it turned out that they were good actors as well, which was a big bonus! But probably what impressed me most about my teammates was the fact that, when we were running out of time to come up with something to write, they all managed to remain calm and focused, which was a huge help, otherwise we could have just panicked and given up. But we didn’t, and in the end we were able to succeed. So this experience has really taught me a lot about how to act under pressure in a group situation.

13. Sth. you shared

Well, something I have shared with a couple is my SUV, I bought it last yeas, and it has been my handy commuting tool since I got the hang of it. But several months ago, I saw a PSA on telly saying that the air quality has been deteriorating and the pernicious effect on us would be the serious engulfing smog and devastating respiratory diseases and that was horrible. At the same time I knew the couple living next door who were also my colleagues would want to have a car because of peer pressure, you know, demonstration of one’s social wealth and hierarchy is also a social malaise, but they were worried about the financial constraint after that. So I decided to share my car with them and they just took responsibility of part of gas bill. Every morning they met me at the designated spot and I would drive them to workplace together.

With the reference to why shared my car with them, there are 2 points that I want to make, first, helping others to the best of one’s ability is a kind of Chinese traditional virtue to all strata of society. And luckily, I solved their problems effectively without compromising my quality of life; at most I lost some rein

s of that car. But it didn’t bother me. And it also saved the husband James from the wife’s nagging. He said he owed me a huge favor. Second, this car-pooling thing might be kind of my effort to protect the environment of the city, because I really got shocked about the levels of pollution in the vehicle-choked cities of China. And this has been exacerbated by people’s ignorance, which is just like the thin end of the wedge. So I take the initiative to reduce the use of my car and call on my colleagues to follow the trend. And I hope this trend would influence a larger population.

14. An occasion you were late

Well, I was late for the English Literature exam at the end of last semester. At that time, I was supposed to be in the classroom before 9:00 a.m. But I didn’t get there until 9:30.

How could I be late for such an important occasion? Well, the alarm clock was to blame for my unpunctuality. It always worked fine, though it might go a little bit faster sometimes. I never thought it would conk out on me on that day. It certainly didn’t deserve my trust. Anyway, at about 9:10, I woke up, wondering why the clock hadn’t gone off yet. I had a sinking feeling when I saw the clock was showing 24:00 (midnight). After checking out the time on my cell phone, I got dressed and grabbed a pencil and my ID card and then rushed out my apartment in an unbelievable speed without brushing my hair, let alone washing my face.

I called a cab and finally arrived at the campus in ten minutes. In the lift, I kept worrying about the exam: what if the teacher won’t let me in? What am I gonna tell her? Or, if he or she is really nice and gives me an opportunity to sit the exam, can I finish the paper within one hour? Fortunately, the invigilator was my tutor for the graduation thesis. She didn’t say a word. But according to her wired expression, I knew I must look terrible. Anyway, I managed to fill in all the blanks on the paper, though I had no idea about some writers’ birth dates or masterpieces. The good thing was that I got a C, which wasn’t too bad considering it was a difficult subject.

So from then on, I would set at least two alarm clocks if I had important things to do the next day.

15. An occasion you got angry

China has become car crazy. Bad traffic situation pissed me off把我惹毛了every day. Living in Beijing you have to face a massive traffic jam and I promise this situation will take a hundred years to clear up. Every day’s gridlock 交通阻塞

in the city is normal. Going a dozen blocks can take an hour during rush hour. The worst one I have encountered was the day before the Mid-Autumn Festival this year. Normally I can go back home from my campus in an hour, but that day I was stuck in the traffic jam. It puzzled me why cars completely stop on the 3rd ring road when there were no accidents or other apparent reasons

to stop. Why didn’t people just keep driving? It drove me crazy! Finally, an hour’s trip took me 3 hours and I definitely believe that every time it comes to the traffic in Beijing it would be a tragedy since then.

16. A wrong decision you made

One of my wrong decision I have to mention is choosing Guangzhou railway to travel to Changsha. It caused me ill in the middle of the trip so that I could only go back to home without finishing the whole trip.

Last summer holiday, I boarded the train for Changsha from Shanghai Station. The train was run by Guangzhou Railway Corporation Ltd. which is a company lack of responsibility. They hardly cleaned the compartment so that the floor was accumulated with dust and dirty, which was as dirty as a pig sty. When you came into the carriage, the air-condition was broken down or out of service. A heavy obnoxious odour assaulted me mixed with some decomposed stuff olfactory and instant noodles smell. As I put down my bag, I found the carpet was just full of cockroach. It's disgusting! Not to mention the restroom which was like the hell. The railway conductor was smoking back and forth around me in the congested carriage and making me almost choke.

With heat wave around myself, I finally arrived in Changsha with unpleasure and plan to set out to another place a couple of days later. When I was sitting in the waiting room of Zhuzhou Station. It was annoying to find that Guangzhou Railway Corporation Ltd. just put the outside air conditioning machines aiming to waiting room, you know, the place was used as a place for guests to rest. They could enjoy the fresh air inside, we guests only to bear the heat wave which was blown out of the machines and it's 39 degree centigrade outside. It's so unfair and intolerable, which was particularly barbaric acts.

The experience of this trip was a nightmare which I will not undergo next time. Taking Guangzhou railway was one of my biggest substantial mistake of my life.

17. A traffic jam

Well, in cities nowadays, it has almost become a norm to be stuck in a traffic jam. I have been in traffic jams many times, but this one makes the deepest impression. Last year, I took a bus and headed to an interview with a company that I had applied. Shortly afterwards, the bus stopped in the middle of the traffic. There was rumor that some accident had happened and the traffic was held up. People were complaining on the bus. I felt so

anxious because I would be late for this interview and would lose this precious opportunity. I called the company trying to explain the situation. The girl who took the phone had a very sweet voice. She told me patiently not to worry. She said that she would explain everything to her boss and help me reschedule. I was so grateful for her help that I asked for her name and phone number. Five minutes later, she called me and told me that the traffic jam was city-wide and that her boss totally understood this. She also said that I would be given another interview the next day at 10 in the morning, which was really something that I had not expected. I got the internship later and the girl became my girlfriend and has remained so until today. Actually, I think that the traffic jam is a godsend that brings my girlfriend and I together.
