Do you like having fun in front of the screen before bed sometimes? Now, a new study shows that longer screen time can truly affect(影响)our vision(视力).
It's found that nearly one-third of American adults spend more than half of their waking hours using a digital device(数码设备). Whether it's playing a game, working on a paper all night or watching TV shows, digital devices play a big role in today's life. Unluckily, screens do affect eye health, such as digital eyestrain (眼疲劳), neck and shoulder pain, headaches, blurred(模糊的)vision and dry eyes. They are caused by long-term screen time.
Besides surfing and chatting online, children have spent longer time in front of screens at school, too.
According to a study by the Kaiser Family Foundation, children spend seven hours per day, and over 50 per week, in front of their smart phones, computers and TVs.
James Costello, an eye expert, has a short-term solution for teens: Taking a break from screens every 10 to 20 minutes may help a little to solve the eye health.
Today, with schoolwork from school, social media and friends, it may seem impossible to cut screens out completely, but Costello said it's all about balance.
In today's society, it's almost impossible to solve all of the problems we have. "It's better to do things in moderation(适度), " said Costello.
61.Why do people spend a lot of time using digital devices?
A.Because digital devices are important in today's life.
B.Because people can't find something interesting to do.
C.Because most people think it's the best way to relax themselves.
D.Because people can't do anything without digital devices.
62.Which of the following is caused(造成)by long-term screen time?
A.You don't feel like eating anything.
B.You always wake up at night and it's hard to sleep again.
C.It's not easy for you to move your feet.
D.You aren't able to see things clearly.
63.Which of the following is NOT true?
A.Children spend time surfing and chatting online.
B.Children's screen time is longer at school than at home.
C.Children spend about three hours in front of digital screens each day.
D.Children spend over 50 hours in front of screens per week.
64.According to James Costello, .
A.it's better to stop using digital devices at home
B.it's necessary to take a break regularly while using screens
C.there is no way to solve the problems that screens cause
D.there are more bad things about screens than good things
65.This passage is mainly about .
A.American adults' health problems
B.American children's free time activities

There are many Starbucks in Europe. People never found Starbucks in Italy, though. That changed after the company opened the first coffee shop in Italy in September, 2018.
Many Italians love coffee so much that they drink it every day. In Rome, coffee bars are very popular. Sant’Eustachio is one of the city’s best coffee bars. It serves about 5,000 shots of coffee a day. A shot is a tiny glass. Outside of Italy, a shot of coffee is called an espresso.
Raimondo Ricci owns Sant’Eustachio. People do not bring their laptops to the bar and relax, he said.
People do bring their laptops and relax at Starbucks. Raimondo Ricci’s bar is very small. There is no room to even sit inside. Customers stand at the bar and drink. Then they leave. Sant’Eustachio is the opposite of Starbucks. At Starbucks, people like to buy large drinks. They eat packaged sandwiches. They like the comfortable seats and free Wi-Fi. Often people will stay for hours. Italian coffee bars are very different. Starbucks also charges more for coffee than Italian coffee bars do. That could be a good thing. Raimondo Ricci
said coffee prices in Italy are too low.
Some Italians go to the bar five times a day. Workers move fast there. They make coffees and serve sweets or sandwiches quickly. No one writes a person’s name on a cup like at Starbucks. They do not shout out the person’s name 10 minutes later, either. Many Italians might visit the new Starbucks. Coffee shop owners do not believe they will be popular, though. Italians will still love Italian bars the best.
Carlo Alberto Carnevale Maffè teaches business at an Italian school. He said Italians might look down on Starbucks. Yet, he said, “there is room” for all coffee shops.

B.Italians like a kind of coffee called espresso.

D..Carnevale Maffè looks down on Starbucks.
70.The passage is most probably taken from .
A. a news report

C. a travel map
D. a fashion magazine

Although people everywhere seem to enjoy drinking coffee, they don't all have the same coffee culture. In
Europe, for example, coffee shops are common places for people to meet friends and to talk while they drink coffee. On the other hand, places like this were not as common in North America in the past. Instead, people in North America liked to drink coffee in their homes with friends. The coffee culture in the USA changed when
Starbucks(星巴克) coffee shops spread across the country.
The first Starbucks coffee shop opened in 1971 in downtown Seattle, Washington, in the USA. It was a small coffee shop that cooked its own coffee beans. The coffee shop's business did well, and by 1981 there were three
Starbucks stores in Seattle.
T hings really began to change for the company in 1981. That year, Howard Schultz met the three men who
ran Starbucks. Schultz worked in New York for a company that made kitchen equipment. He noticed that Starbucks ordered a large number of special coffee makers, which caused(引起) his great interest. Schultz went to Seattle to see what Starbucks did. In 1982, the original Starbucks owners hired Schultz as the company's head of marketing (市场营销).
In 1983, Schultz traveled to Italy. The special environment of the espresso (浓咖啡) bars there caught his
eyes. Back in the USA, Schultz created an environment for Starbucks coffee shops that was comfortable and casual, and customers everywhere seemed to like it. Starbucks began opening more stores across the USA. Then the company opened coffee shops in other countries as well. Today, there are more than 16, 000 Starbucks coffee shops all over the world.
However, that does not mean Starbucks has not had problems. In fact, many Starbucks stores have closed
over the past few years. On the one hand, this is because there were too many coffee shops competing for business in one small area. On t he other hand, stores in some countries closed because the coffee culture there did not match with the "feel the same everywhere" environment offered by Starbucks.
71. The underlined word “ran”in Paragraph 3 probably means“”.
A. closed
B. managed
C. left
D. said
72. According to the passage, which is the right order for the following sentences?
a. This man helped to make Starbucks a huge coffee company.
b. Starbucks began as a small coffee company in Seattle in the USA.
c. He went to Seattle to learn about the company and later worked for it.
d. Howard Schultz noticed Starbucks ordered lots of special coffee makers.
A. a-b-d-c
B. c-a-b-d
C. b-d-c-a
D. d-c-a-b
73. Why did so many Starbucks close in small areas?
A. Because the coffee in these places was too expensive.
B. Because the style of the coffee stores seems the same.
C. Because people like to drink coffee at home with friends.
D. Because there were too many coffee shops in one place.
74. To tell us the story of Starbucks, the writer did the following except___________.
A.introducing how Starbucks became successful
B.showing what Schultz did to help Starbucks become successful
C.telling what difficulties Starbucks faces
D.telling what Starbucks did to solve his problems
75.What's the best title for the passage?

What season is it in October? If you ask people from the UK, they will tell you it's "autumn". 86 Why does this season have two names in English? According to Dictionary. com, both words have been around for a long time, but neither of them was the first to describe this season. During this season, crops(庄稼)would become ripe(成熟)and farmers would have a big harvest(丰收). 87
Then, in the 1600s, more people left their farms and moved to cities. With fewer people farming, the word "harvest" became less useful. 88 They knew leaves fell from trees during the season, so people started calling it "the fall of the leaf', or "fall" for short.
89 It gradually replaced(替代)"fall" as the word for this season.
At the same time, British people were making their first trips to North America. They brought both the words "fall" and "autumn" with them. 90
A. English speakers needed a different name for the season.
B. The season in October is autumn.
C. But at the end of the 1600s, "autumn" from the French word, came to England.
D. So in Old English, this season was simply called "harvest".
E. That's why today's Americans have two names for one season.
