Living Alone on Purpose

Generally speaking, there are two kinds of people who choose to live alone on purpose.

The first group consists of artists who seek inspiration. They thinks that living alone gives them creative inspiration and the sense of independence. To take just one example, JiKang, one of the “Seven sages of the Bamboo Grove”, was all by himself at bamboo grove and created Ancient Tune of Guangling.

The second category involves people who are disappointed with their marriage or family life. A topical example of this is provided by

the story of a woman who has been living alone since her husband left her ten years ago. Rather than waiting for his return, she is just disappointed with life.

Whether seeking inspiration or being disappointed with life, what is important is to find some grace in our condition and make ourselves comfortable.
