choosing friends
the friends a person chooses when in high school can make a lot of difference in his or her future. teenagers are easily influenced by the people around them, so the kind of person a teenager turns out to be usually depends on the kind of friends that he or she has in school. for this reason, teenagers need to choose their friends wisely. if you become good friends with other students who are honest, hardworking and who plan to go to college, then you?ll probably study a lot and make plans for college, too.
but if you choose friends who smoke and drink, hang out (spend your free time) at video game rooms and who hate to study, then you?ll probably be the same kind of person. you?ll have bad grades in school, and you?ll never think about getting a college education or learning english.
best friends
every high school student needs to have someone he or she considers to be a “best friend” —someone to tell his or her troubles to, someone to have fun with outside of school.
it?s especially important to have someone like that when you are growing up. teenagers face many problems. so it?s important for them to have someone who can give them comfort and support when the problems of life seem to be too much to bear.
best friends are often inseparable (难以分开的). they go to school together, they go shopping together, and they spend lots of time talking on the phone.
