Tips in a British Pub

A pub[ ](酒吧) is a place where you can buy drinks in UK. How can you attract attention of the bar[ ]staff[ ](酒吧服务员) to serve you in a crowded pub without insult[ ](冒犯) them? Here are some tips[ ](建议) for you. Do not call out or wave your arms like a drowning swimmer. Do not show your bad mood by waving your empty glass. The key thing is to catch the bar worker’s eyes. Do show a hopeful, even a little anxious[ ](焦急的) facial expression[ ](表情). If you look too contented[ ](满意的), the bar staff may think you are already being served.

Try to remember some bar staff’s pet[ ]hates [ ](恨之入骨). They do not like people taking a long time to make up which drinks to buy when there are a lot of people waiting for service. At the same time, never give the bar staff a tip[ ](小费) in cash[ ](现金), which would be a reminder[ ](提醒人的事物)of their service role, whereas you buy a drink for them is the right and friendly way.
